Since 1959 the Upper Hominy Fire Department has strove to provide quality emergency services to our citizens and visitors. Today we provide Fire Suppression, Rescue Services, and Advanced Life Support Medical response to the Upper Hominy and Beaverdam communities located in Candler, North Carolina. We also provide response to a large portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Station 1 ( The Main) is located on Mount Pisgah Highway and is staffed 24 hours a day by a Captain, an Engineer and a Firefighter. Station 2 (Beaverdam) is located on McFee Road is staffed 24 hours a day with a Lieutenant and an Engineer. We operate at the Advanced EMT level for medical response. The Department is also are rated as an ISO 5/9 fire department by the NC Department of Insurance / Office of the State Fire Marshal and a Medium Duty Rescue Provider by the NC Association of Rescue and EMS.
The Upper Hominy Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department Incorporated is dedicated to life safety, incident stabilization and property conservation. We provide fire suppression, prevention and control to the Upper Hominy and Beaverdam communities and through mutual aid to the surrounding communities. We also provide rescue and emergency medical services to the best of our ability to our communities. We also provide fellowship for our members through meetings and training sessions. We make every effort to maintain up-to-date training methods and practices. We respond to all cries for help in the Upper Hominy Fire District as well as surrounding communities no matter how large or small.
